Whenua Access

Whenua Access

Mangatu Blocks is committed to strengthening the connection between our shareholders, their whānau and the whenua.

Our Whenua Access Portal makes it easy for shareholders and their whānau to register to go onto the whenua in safe, organised, and meaningful ways.

What is the Whenua Access Portal?

The Whenua Access Portal is an online system where Mangatu shareholders and their whānau can register their details including name, shareholder ID (if known) or whakapapa connection to a shareholder, and upload other relevant details including gun license, vehicle details etc.

Your information will be assessed by the Mangatu admin team. Once verified, you will receive an email inviting you to access the portal and request an access permit.

When Mangatu Blocks receives an Access Permit request, the request is considered based on risk management, availability, and intended use. An email will be sent to the Access Permit requester with the following attachments:

  • a geo-referenced map for uploading into Avenza Maps app
  • a copy of the access permit (confirming approved dates of entry, parking location, rules etc.)

The Portal helps us manage access in a way that:

  • Respects and cares for the whenua
  • Prioritises the safety of everyone on site
  • Upholds our shared values
Caring for the whenua

All access to the whenua is guided by our commitment to kaitiakitanga and manaakitanga.

We ensure that every visit is managed in a way that supports the long-term wellbeing of the whenua – from setting safe access points to monitoring activity and ensuring sustainable practices such as responsible rongoā collection.

The Portal helps us welcome shareholders and their whānau onto the whenua in a way that prioritises safety, provides clear guidance, and ensures that everyone is able to enjoy and engage with the whenua respectfully and responsibly.

This ensures that access to our whenua:

  • Strengthens connection
  • Protects and nurtures our taiao
  • Provides a safe, respectful, and positive experience for all
  • Upholds the responsibilities we carry on behalf of our tīpuna and future generations
Parking and access points

To support safe and well-managed visits, designated safe parking locations and access points will be used for trips onto the whenua.

These areas help us to keep people and vehicles safe and avoid damage to sensitive areas.

Information about where to park and how to access the whenua is on the pdf map provided that will be emailed with the Access Permit.
